1968 Charger

1968 Dodge Charger RT 440 Magnum clone. Exceptional throughout.

If you are tired of looking at cars with wrinkled body panels, cheezy engine compartments and tired interiors, you have just found relief.

Paint and body are near perfect.   This car has magnificent detail. Panels and seam lines are right on.  Engine compartment is as tidy as it gets, and the interior is completely fresh.  And it is all in the right colors.

This car is an animal!  440 4 bbl 727 auto, 4:10 positraction rear.  Virtually all mechanical components have been overhauled or replaced.  Chrome and trim are all near perfect.  Underneath is not detailed  for show because it was built to drive, but there is not a speck of rust and the underside is totally solid and clean except for a little mud that got on it one day while driving down a wet unpaved road.  The tires are new, and the chrome wheels are by Crager.  Paint is factory color bright red.  Many thousands of dollars in new parts have been installed.

Some highlights of the major items, but by no means all of the new items, include:

New:

Front Wil Wood disc brakes and new rear brakes.

Rebuilt 440 engine with 200 miles on it, with steel crank, deep pan, Harlan Sharp Roller Rockers with Edelbrock 750 Carburetor.

Year One wiring harness front to back.

Gas tank & sending unit.

Shocks, front and rear, with air shocks on rear.

Alternator.

Starter motor.

Carpet.

Windshield.

Exhaust 2.5 inch Turbo mufflers.

Driveshaft balanced.

Electronic ignition.

Many new interior and trim pieces.

Rechromed bumpers

Rebuilt 727 Torque Flite Transmission

Rebuilt 4:10 posi-traction rearend.

There is no bad news about this car.  The flaws include a speedometer we haven’t had repaired yet (it jumps and reads too high), a headlight door that occasionally hangs up & doesn’t always shut when you turn off the headlights. (a nudge with your finger fixes it), and the vinyl top is a single-seam type with the seam in the middle, not the dual-seam type as from the factory, with an almost unnoticeable small gap at the rear tip of the top, which can be repaired by vinyl repair.  There are scratches showing on the driver’s side window glass, which needs to be investigated and repaired.

Steering wheel is aftermarket.  I have a used stock steering wheel, but have not yet located a horn ring.  The car was originally a 383 car with ac.  I have the compressor & some hoses for it if you want to reinstall the ac.  We don’t need ac here in the mountains at 9,000 feet!

You may call me anytime 7AM to 7PM mountain time.  719 660 5504, or email me with your questions.  Of course, I highly recommend a personal inspection of the car before buying if you can.   The car is located just outside of Woodland Park, Colorado.  Woodland Park is 15 miles west of Colorado Springs, which has excellent and reasonably priced air service.

Even on hi-speed internet, you may have to be a little patient.  It may take a minute or two to download the largest of the files, or you can let it stream through a couple of times.

Reason for selling?  I don’t enjoy my muscle cars as much as I should.   I am not a dealer.   I’ve been collecting primarily 50s cars for nearly 40 years, and in the last few years began collecting these.  That was a mistake.  I almost never drive them.  I would rather be driving one of my 54 Mercs and the muscle cars were just taking up space in my dry, heated garage, so they are all going to go.

Of course, there are no warranties, expressed or implied, and the car is being sold as-is, where-is.  Short-term indoor storage can be arranged until the car can be picked up.  There are antique-auto transport services nearby and I can give you their numbers to make arrangements if you choose.

This is the last of my muscle-cars for sale.
