Dsungaripterus weii, with a wing span measuring approximately 10 feet, is one of the most interesting large pterosaurs known. Its large size suggests that perhaps it may have traveled long distances in search of food from its nesting location. Our exclusive reconstruction is made of solid urethane and assembles to hang with wings outstretched and legs in a soaring pose. This museum piece can be modified to form an impressive flock display.

The skull evolved in order to accommodate its specialized feeding habits. The back of the jaws developed large blunt teeth well suited for crushing shellfish. The front of the jaws were toothless and curved upwards into a tweezer- like end, apparently designed to reach into the spiraling shells of ammonites and other mollusks to get at the soft bodied creature. Our newest version of the skull includes internal structures. A distinct crest on its head may have been used for display in courtship rituals.
