American Mastodons were the large browsers of their day, becoming extinct about 11,000 years ago. With a pair of highly crowned teeth in each dentary, leaves and twigs formed much of their diet. This is an extraordinary large male specimen from the Aucilla river in Florida’s panhandle. 3.5 meteers (11.5 feet) high, 4.6 meters (15 feet) long.
