Discovered in 1911, this Tylosaur has long been know as the largest Tylosaur in existence at 45 feet long. Truly the “T.rex of the ocean,” these giant mosasaurs ruled the seas for 20 million years.

Skeleton – “SOPHIE”
Discovery location: Waco, Texas
Formation: Taylor Group
Length: 12.8 m (42 feet)
Extraordinarily well-preserved, this skeleton possesses both the bite and scrape marks from sharks feeding on the carcass as well as “snout wrestling” damage to the premaxilla. At 42 feet long, “Sophie” is one of the largest on record, and definitely one of the best.
