Cast Tracks
This natural cast of a late Jurassic sauropod is named Brontopodus, meaning track of a brontosaur. The animal was probably about 10 feet tall at the hip and 30 – 50 feet long. Natural casts, which show a track in negative aspect, are like a replica of an actual foot. They are formed when resistant sand or other sediment fills in tracks made in softer mud or silt. Specimen measures approximately 68 cm (27″ h) x 96 cm (38 ” w).
